Registration
Everyone who is listed on the conference programme and who wishes to attend the conference in person needs to register and pay in full before attending the conference.
Registration for the conference is now open.
The conference begins with an opening plenary on the evening of Tuesday 1 September, with sessions running Wednesday 2 September, Thursday 3 September and Friday 4 September.
By registering to attend the conference, you agree to abide by the conference code of conduct.
How to register
You can register through the Ex Ordo platform.
We will have in-person and online-only rates available. In-person rates also include full access to all online sessions and content.
If you are attending in person, you can opt to attend for all three days, or for one-day only. We also have the option to add a second day to your one-day registration, at an additional fee of £60.
You will have the option to pay immediately by card, or to request an invoice to pay by bank transfer.
If you are a university administrator and need to book several colleagues onto the conference, please contact us for support at ac2026@rgs.org
Student attendees
Given the content and nature of the Annual International Conference, most student attendees are ordinarily at postgraduate level.
If you are a student under the age of 18 interested in participating in the conference, please contact the conference organisers before registering.
Tax treatment for online registration (non-UK institutions only)
If you represent an institution outside the UK paying for a delegate to attend the conference online-only, please read our policy on tax treatment before registering through the online portal.

Cancellation policy Annual Conference
All bookings are non-refundable unless a medical certificate or similar evidence can be produced, or unless the Society needs to cancel the event.
If a delegate cancels their booking by producing a medical certificate or similar evidence, cancellations made up to four weeks in advance will incur a £30 administration fee, and cancellations made thereafter will incur a £60 fee.
We cannot give any refunds for cancellations made less than seven days before, during, or after the event.
The Society reserves the right to refuse any booking or admission to any event without giving a reason.
If the Society is unable to deliver the in-person element, then the difference between the appropriate in-person and virtual rate will be fully refundable by the Society to those delegates who have registered for the in-person event. All presentations will be moved online.
Research Group guest registrations
Research Group guests receive complimentary registration for the online conference or for one or more days of conference, at the invitation of the Research Group and the conference organisers.
Assistance with travel and accommodation costs is not included.
Applications are now open for the 2026 conference.
If you would like to apply for a Research Group guest registration, please contact a thematically suitable Research Group for advice and to ask if they will support an application on your behalf. Please note that some groups are very oversubscribed and may limit applications to those participating in their organised sessions.
Financial support for conference attendance
We regret that we are unable to contribute to the costs of conference registration or attendance (travel, accommodation or any other expenses) for any conference delegate other than invited Chair's plenary speakers, beyond the Research Group guest scheme.
Delegates who need financial support to attend the conference are advised to look for funding from their own institutions or other sources.
Discount for Society Fellows and Members
With a Society Fellowship and Associate Fellowship you benefit from the discounted registration fees for conference attendance.
Membership renewal and registering for the conference
Current Fellows or Members can pay for their membership renewal at the same time as registering for the conference. Please contact ac2026@rgs.org for assistance.
We can issue both charges on a single invoice/receipt, suitable for professional expenses claims.
