Joining a Research Group
Thinking of joining one of our Research Groups?
Stay up to date with upcoming activities, access networks of people with similar research interests, and benefit from opportunities that support your professional development.
Why should you join a Research Group?
By becoming a member of a Research Group, you can stay to date with upcoming activities, including those that showcase emerging research in your specialist field and receive information about conferences, workshops, and funding opportunities.
You can also access networks that connect you with others who share similar research interests, building upon those established within your institution.
As a postgraduate or early career geographer, joining a Research Group can provide valuable opportunities to develop professional skills, with some groups organising activities aimed at supporting those in the early stages of their career like the Mid-Term Conference hosted by the Postgraduate Forum.
Choosing a Research Group
You may wish to take some time to consider which of the Society’s Research Groups you would benefit most from joining.
There is no limit to how many groups you can join, so you can join several depending on your theoretical, methodological, and empirical interests, as well as your broader teaching, research, and professional commitments.
If you are interested in a particular Research Group and would like to find out more, you may take a look at their website and social media channels or join the group’s annual general meeting (AGM).
